Transforming Our Kitchen: Adding a Bar Made All the Difference

Adding a bar to our kitchen renovation at the last minute was a game-changer for us—it completely transformed the space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome! The wall that once served no purpose now houses a stylish and functional bar area, which has been a perfect addition for both aesthetics and practicality.

The extra cabinet space was a pleasant surprise, especially since Ryan has a growing collection of rare bourbons that needed a home. As avid entertainers, this new space is ideal for mixing cocktails and serving guests.

Our contractor did an excellent job crafting a floating shelf, which we stained in a rich dark walnut shade. It not only adds visual appeal but also provides a perfect spot for displaying artwork and unique glassware. To complement the shelf, we found the ideal tipping rail from a company called Brass Hardware in Savannah, GA. Their customized pieces fit seamlessly with our design, enhancing both style and functionality in the bar area.

For the accent wall behind the bar, we opted for a reeded wood wall splash to introduce a modern touch without breaking the bank. This choice has helped to define the bar as a focal point in our home, blending craftsmanship with our personal style. See here for full project details.

These thoughtful additions have truly made our house feel more like a home. We’re delighted with how the bar has elevated our kitchen space, creating a welcoming and stylish environment that reflects our passion for entertaining and appreciation for well-crafted design.
